Out With The Old

Who doesn't love a good spring cleaning of their house or closet? Or a change in career paths? Or a change in seasons? There is something about change or getting rid of the old that reenergizes our spirits and wakes us back up, excited for life again.

Even though I personally believe we have the power to make positive changes in our lives whenever we want, I completely understand the appeal of having that fresh start and clean slate that a new year brings. It's like there's this buzz in the air, a collective energy that pushes us to reflect on the past year and think about the future. And let's be honest, sometimes we all need a little nudge to get motivated to make those changes we've been putting off. Isn't it fascinating how we humans are such funny creatures? We have this incessant craving for change, yet we often find ourselves hesitant and fearful when it finally arrives. It's almost as if the universe acknowledges our conflicting desires. Our mind, body, and spirit trio constantly nudges us, urging us to take that step into the next phase of our lives or towards our goals. But somehow, we remain stagnant, waiting for something or someone to push us forward. Perhaps it's those rare moments when life throws unexpected challenges our way that we finally embrace change. Or maybe it's the steady rhythm of an annual holiday that forces us to face the changes we've been avoiding.

Change, in whatever form it may manifest, can undoubtedly be a daunting prospect for many of us. However, I believe that if we shift our perspective and approach it with open arms, we can unlock a profound sense of freedom. Whether it's a change we desire within ourselves or a transformation we seek in our lives, embracing the excitement that comes with change rather than fearing it can lead us down exciting and uncharted paths.

As New Year's approaches, it's a perfect time to embrace change with open arms and a friendly spirit. In Ireland, they have a unique tradition: at midnight on New Year's Eve, they open their back door to release the old year, and then open their front door to welcome the new one. This gesture symbolizes letting go of the past and embracing new beginnings. We can all adopt this beautiful tradition and embrace change, bidding farewell to the old and ushering in the new. So, as you stand at the threshold of a brand new year, remember to open your heart and your doors, as change brings with it endless possibilities and fresh opportunities.
